GEORGE STRAIT – 69

George Strait doesn’t have the credit as the King of Country for nothing. He is one of the most influential recording artists of all time and known as the pioneer of the neotraditionalist country style. His moves and cowboy looks also make a mark as his fashion. Strait’s success started when he dropped his first single, Unwound, in 1981. It quickly became a big hit during the Urban Cowboy country-pop era. In addition, it helped the emergence of the classic neo-traditional country in the 1980s and the 1990s.

During the 1980s alone, the now-69-year-old singer made seven albums that reached number one on the music charts. He then became one of the firsts and the most prominent country artists who helped return the country music to its roots, away from the then-famous pop country era. With his great contributions to country music, do not be surprised if Strait was named the Artist of the Decade and got inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
