GEORGE LUCAS

Creating blockbuster franchises such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones really made George Lucas a household name. He is given credit for being among the most financially successful filmmakers, but we think that he should also be lauded for being a big part of the 20th-century New Hollywood movement where they fought for the director to take a more prominent role in authoring the narrative of the movie.

Considering his love for Star Wars, Lucas has made Skywalker Ranch his movie and workplace. It is where the best of scripts are weaved and translated into something us mere audience could enjoy.  While this home and office place is not open to the public, those lucky enough to be granted access would see a barn, a garden with vegetables and fruits, an on-site restaurant, and a swimming pool. It is more of a filmmaker’s retreat than an actual house, but since he spends most of his time here, then it is his second home. His residence is in Carpinteria, California, where he owns two beachfront properties.
