BILL GATES

One of the world’s richest guys, Bill Gates, has held the post of CEO, Chairman, President, and Chief Software Architect of Microsoft. Apart from being wealthy, Gates is also considered one of the best innovators who helped usher in the microcomputer revolution in the 1970s and 1980s. Now that he no longer is tasked with Microsoft, Gates has shifted his energy to philanthropic works, specifically via his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

We would wonder, though, what kind of house the third richest man lives in, right? Reports indicate that Gates owns a gigantic mansion in Medina, Washington, with an appraised value of $127 million. It comes with seven bedrooms and 18.75 baths. He calls this home Xanadu 2.0, an allusion to the title character in Citizen Kane. As expected of a technopreneur’s house, he installed smart elements and fixtures, including a sensor that monitors the room’s climate and lighting. While that may seem extravagant and consume a lot of electricity, the house, by design, uses its natural surroundings to regulate temperature, so it is environment-friendly.
