Let’s just say that Stephen Colbert was an accidental dramatic actor. He did not really intend to become one. However, while in college, he got hooked on improvisational theater. That is also where he met director Del Close, who he gave credit for recruiting him to be Steve Carell’s understudy in Second City Chicago. He then went on to work on various shows, including his talk program The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which he has hosted since 2015.
