Her first starring credit is in the 1975 action thriller movie Rosebud.

She later got her shot for fame in 1980, where she landed several movie projects. She starred in Ticket to Heaven, City Limits, Midnight Crossing, and Police Academy. She often stars in TV series where she got her ultimate stardom. Kim became a pop icon when she was cast as Samantha Jones in the TV series Sex and the City in 1997. The series ended in 2004 and returned to cinemas in 2008 and 2010. Her career was stable, and it seems like she has no plans of retiring any soon.
